Norcot Nursery School is an 'Outstanding' (OFSTED 2024) Local Authority Maintained Nursery School for 3 - 5 year old children and those 2 year old children who are eligible for funding.

 

Spread over our three rooms of Rainbow, Sun and Star Room, as well as our extensive and exciting garden areas, we offer inclusivity to all and provide a broad and balanced curriculum with a view to school readiness.

 

All children are eligible for 15 hours of free childcare per week starting from the new academic term after their third birthday. At Norcot we offer this as either three hours every morning or three hours every afternoon on a term time only basis.   We are also offering the 30 hour entitlement for eligible children as well as funded places for 2 year old eligible children. Early Years Funding Entitlements


All 3 and 4 year old children are eligible for a funded early years place of 15 hours a week for 38 weeks per year (term time only)


Entitlement for universal funding starts at the beginning of the term following a child’s 3rd birthday.

Some 2 year old children are eligible to claim early years funding for 15 hours a week subject to them meeting set criteria. Eligibility for 2 year old funding needs to be checked via Reading Borough Council’s funding portal. 


3 and 4 year old children of working parents may be entitled to claim an Extended Entitlement of an additional 15 hours of funding per week eligibility is processed by His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.

Fees

The majority of children that attend our Nursery School have funded places.


If you would like extra sessions we can offer Paid for Places for 3 & 4 year olds, subject to availabilty. Please enquire at admin@norcot.reading.sch.uk


Extra Clothing and Seasonal Clothing

Please can we ask that each child has extra sets of clothing in Nursery or Day Care. Aside from toileting accidents, we do have sessions of messy, water and outdoor play where children's clothing may need changing. Please also ensure that your child is equipped with seasonal clothing such as woolly hats and gloves in winter and sun hats in summer. Please ensure all clothing is named!

Nursery School Drop Off and Pick Up

For Nursery drop off, please try to drop off for the start of the session to help minimise disruption. For pick up; it is fine to pick up before the end of session however we ask that you collect before 11.10am or 2.45pm so that the classroom is not disturbed during story/quiet time. 


Please note that the metal shed in the car park by the clothes bank may be used to store scooters and bikes.


The wooden shed may be used to store pushchairs. The key to this shed can be obtained from reception and must be immediately returned to reception after use. Please be considerate and fold up pushchairs so that space can be easily used by others.

All property left is at owner's risk.
